We are located in Friday Harbor, the County seat, right across the street from the County Courthouse, just two blocks up from the ferry landing. This enables us to be more efficient in recording legal documents with the County Auditor. San Juan County, Washington was established as a part of Washington Territory in 1873. The County consists of 176 named islands and reefs (up to 743 at low tides). San Juan is the smallest of Washington's 39 Counties with approximately 175 square miles of land area and had a population in 2001 of 14,400. The largest islands in the County are San Juan (including Roche Harbor and the Town of Friday Harbor), Orcas (which includes the towns of Eastsound, Deer Harbor, Olga and West Sound), Lopez, and Shaw, all of which are served by the Washington State Ferry System. There are many other islands where first and second homeowners reside that are not serviced by the ferry system. The larger of those are Decatur, Blakely, Center, Stuart and Henry. The County is located in the northwest corner of Washington State. The nearest major population centers are Victoria and Vancouver, B.C. and Seattle, WA.
